Vehicle Description

The Ferrari 308 was Ferrari’s best selling variant with a manufacturing range from 1975 to 1985 totalling circa 12,149 cars. The Quattrovalvole (QV) variant had 3,042 cars manufactrued between 1982 and 1985 of which only 233 were made in right hand drive.

Powered by a mid engined 2.9 litre V8, with 4 vales per cylinder and using the reliable Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection system the 308 produced 240bhp mated to the iconic dog leg 5 speed gated gear box. The GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) has a removable, grained satin black roof that can be stowed behind the seats providing the benefit of open top or coupe styling.

The main differences between the QV model and previous models are front louvered panel on the front lid to aid radiator cooling, updated radiator Grille and rectangular driving Lights, electronically operated mirrors with a small enamel Ferrari badge.

This matching numbers 1985 model benefitted from some major changes to the earlier 308 variants with

  • fuel injected four valve engine
  • the Zincrox (galvanised) steel panels
  • lighter clutch and longer reach gear lever
  • 16”x 7 front and rear wheels
  • Original OE wheels with forged magnesium and correct Ferrari and Cromodor & magnesio markings

Our customers Azzurro Metallic is a 1985 UK registered GTSi QV and believed to be 1 of 3 in this special optioned colour – hence a very rare car. Having travelled 46,500 miles with just 5 owners and a service and maintenance history reaching back to 1988 supported by detailed invoices and MOT records, making this car an exceptional find.

The first owner was a Mr Roberts who registered the 308 on 12th March 1985 and owned the car 2 years covering 18,427 miles. He sold the car to a Mr Pringle in 1987 who drove a further 10,000 miles before selling it in 1988. Mr MaGuire acquired the car in 1988 with 28,000 miles and he drove just 3,000 miles in his 3 years of ownership, selling to a Mr Connor in 1991 at 31,000 miles. Mr Connor then owned the car for 22 years driving the 308 10,000 miles. Mr Connor created a detailed account of this particular cars ownership and mileage history, and he sold the car in 2013 to its current owner who has driven the car 5,000 miles in 12 years to its current mileage of 46,500 miles. The deep history file has invoices and MOT certificates supporting the mileage and dates.

The car presents in excellent condition with bright paintwork and a lovely interior. Externally the car has the aforementioned rare Azzurro Metallic paintwork over original 16”x7” wheels. Internally the leather seats, carpets and dashboard are in excellent condition. Mechanically the car drives very well supporting the low mileage and strong service history.
