Launched in 1975, the 924 was well received and sold more than 150,000 units saving Porsche from financial trouble. The 924 was a two door 2+2 4 cylinder 3ltr front engine, water cooled coupe. The cars were built by Volkswagen under Porsche instruction. Using a 4 speed manual and offering a 3 speed automatic in 1977 reached 125bhp. In 1979 a 5 speed transmission was available. A turbo charged version was offered in 1978 enhancing power to 170bhp. The final 924 was produced in 1988.
